There are several different investment methods at VentureSouth:

The first and most common is members investing into a specific portfolio company. You chose the investments individually, and follow the process on the How to Invest page to complete the investment.

The second is the VentureSouth “sidecar funds”. These funds, called the VentureSouth Angel Funds, invest alongside the members. Stay tuned for details on the next VentureSouth Angel Fund. View prior fund portfolios here.

You may hear reference to the VentureSouth Mallard Fund. This is a closed (2020) fund that invests in certain VentureSouth portfolio companies chosen by the VentureSouth team. It invests up to $500k in later-stage companies who are demonstrating strong traction and seeking further growth capital. Companies include Zylo, Spiffy, Case Status and others.

You may also hear reference to the VentureSouth Wood Duck Fund. This was an allocation of SSBCI funding administered by VentureSouth that invested in South Carolina-based companies. It was not open to outside investors and is in harvest mode.
